Deadline: Tuesday, April 21, 2020

“The Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography (MPS Fund) was created to honor the life and work of Michael P. Smith, one of New Orleans’ most legendary and beloved documentary photographers. The MPS Fund awards cash prizes and exhibition opportunities to Gulf Coast photographers whose work combines artistic excellence and a sustained commitment to a cultural documentary project.

ELIGIBILITY
Emerging and established photographers residing in the Gulf Coast states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida are eligible to apply for the MPS Fund’s annual grants. The subject matter for the proposed project is not limited to the Gulf Coast geographic region but the photographers main residence must be within these 5 states.

Finalists must provide proof of residency (government issued ID and another form stating residency for 1 year prior (may be utility, phone bill, and another approved source).

$3,000 award | Featured exhibition during PhotoNOLA 2020 | online exhibition permanently archived on the NOPA website

Application fee for NOPA members** is $25.
Application fee for NON-Members is $45.
Application fee + NOPA membership: $60 (membership is NOT required to enter).
